The 2020 Federal Government Report on Energy Research gives a detailed overview of the Federal Government's energy research funding policy. It also lists the funding available in Länder programmes and under EU research policy. Texts and diagrams explain the progress and current developments in the 7th Energy Research Programme and illustrate related Federal Government activities.
The report shows that, in 2019, the Federal Government spent around €1.15 billion in the Energy Research Programme on the research, development and demonstration of modern energy and efficiency technologies and applications for the energy transition. This means that the volume of funding has increased further from the high level seen in the preceding year – energy research continues to be a central enabler of the energy transition.
