The Federal Funding for Serial Retrofitting programme is being launched today. Via this programme, the Economic Affairs Ministry is giving a fresh boost to the energy transition in the buildings sector.
said: “The Federal Government has decided to make quicker progress on climate change mitigation. Improving the energy performance of buildings can make a significant contribution towards this. The Economic Affairs Ministry has already rolled out a large number of measures to support the renovation of buildings. Serial retrofitting is a new component in this package. It will mean that prefabricated elements can be used to quickly upgrade the buildings. This is attractive for the real estate sector, owners and tenants.”
Serial retrofitting is an innovative approach to renovating buildings. Prefabricated elements for roofs and façades and prefabricated building technology will make it possible to undertake rapid upgrades to the energy performance of buildings. Federal Funding for Serial Retrofitting will foster the development, testing and manufacture of novel procedures and components for serial retrofitting. The intention is to pave the way towards expedited, comprehensive retrofitting, thus improving the energy efficiency of Germany’s building stock.
