Federal Minister Altmaier held first talks today with Dr Jarosław Gowin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development, Labour and Technology of the Republic of Poland since October 2020.
Both Ministers welcomed the very good economic relations between Germany and Poland and discussed further possibilities for cooperation, especially in the field of industrial policy.
said: “Today I talked with my new Polish counterpart Dr Gowin about how we can further deepen the economic cooperation between our two countries. Together with our European partners, we want to work to promote forward-looking technologies, including hydrogen and microelectronics, in the EU. In addition, we wish to deepen German-Polish cooperation in forward-looking areas, also by encouraging Polish and German companies to expand their cooperation, for example in the fields of , and the establishment of the European data infrastructure .“
With a bilateral trade volume of around €123 billion in 2019, Poland is Germany’s fourth largest European trading partner.
Germany is Poland’s most important trading partner. According to the Bundesbank, approximately 1,400 German enterprises with more than 400,000 employees are active in the country; German companies are the major direct investors in Poland.
