Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Peter Altmaier is meeting with his French counterpart Bruno Le Maire in Berlin today to discuss current economic policy issues. The meeting will focus on the current coronavirus pandemic as well as industrial cooperation in forward-looking fields. Topics such as trade policy and transatlantic relations will also be a focus of the meeting.

Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Peter Altmaier said: "I am very much looking forward to today's meeting with Minister Le Maire. France and Germany have always been close and trusting partners. The exchange between our countries is therefore more important than ever in the current crisis. Both countries have been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic. This is why I want to talk to my counterpart Bruno Le Maire today about the current economic situation as well as the pandemic situation. At the same time, we must not lose sight of the future despite the current crisis. Our goal is to further expand our excellent cooperation in forward-looking technologies. We have already very successfully launched two European projects on battery cell production. This is a great success of European cooperation, which we also want to enhance in other important areas for the future, such as hydrogen technology."
