Today and tomorrow, the 14th Set Plan Conference (Strategic Energy Technology) will be held as a virtual meeting under Germany’s Presidency of the Council of the EU. The event is dedicated to ‘Making the SET Plan fit for the EU Green Recovery’ and will explore how innovative energy technologies can foster progress towards carbon neutrality. The focus of the conference will be on a positive interplay between the different elements of the energy system.
Says : “The energy and climate targets must go hand in hand with competitiveness, because only if our products can compete internationally will we be able to venture down the path of climate neutrality. As we do see, we need to use innovative methods. Our objective is to make European industry strong again, for the benefit of all Europeans. The conference that is taking place today and tomorrow is all about finding positive solutions together with our European partners.”
After keynote speeches given by Andreas Feicht, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, Kadri Simson, Commissioner for Energy, and Jean-Eric Paquet, Director-General for Research and Innovation, experts from politics, science, business, and finance will discuss ways in which the transformation of the European energy system could be sped up and new low-carbon technologies put on the market. The entire innovation chain with all its research and innovation work will be on the agenda. SET Plan conferences offer decision makers, researchers and other stakeholders an opportunity to benchmark the progress made en route towards the goals of the SET Plan.
As has been the case with previous Set Plan Conferences, this year’s virtual conference is being organised in cooperation with the European Commission’s Directorates-General for Energy and for Research and Development. To follow the livestream from 1.30 p.m., please use the following link.
