Thomas Bareiß, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, is accompanying German participants at METALEX 2019, the largest metalworking fair in the ASEAN region, from 20 to 23 November 2019. 48 leading German companies from the metalworking and machine tools industry are presenting their products under the motto ‘German High Tech in Metal Working’ on around 1,200 square metres at the BITEC grounds in Bangkok. Germany is also the partner country of this trade fair. The German participation in the sectoral exhibition was initiatied by the German Machine Tool Builders’ Association (VDW). It is being organised by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA) together with Messe Stuttgart.

Parliamentary State Secretary Bareiß said: “It is a great honour for Germany to be the first partner country ever of METALEX. This reflects the close links and the good relations between Germany and Thailand. I am delighted that German machine tool builders have the opportunity to present their expertise and products in this promising market at the trade fair. Germany’s participation as partner country of METALEX 2019 is drawing particular attention to German exhibitors and provides a fresh impetus to the economic relations between our two countries.”

The highlight of the German participation is a special exhibition, including the presentation of machines and a presentation forum. This is where ‘umati’ (universal machine tool interface) will be presented in Asia for the first time. It serves to easily integrate machine tools and equipment into customer-specific and user-specific IT ecosystems in a secure and smooth manner. This standard is not only to apply in Germany: it is also to be available for all users worldwide.
