Christian Hirte, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, will be travelling to India's capital New Delhi tomorrow, where he will meet with representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the IT Ministry and the business promotion agency "Invest India". The issues to be discussed include the bilateral economic relations, and in particular large-scale projects inter alia in the railway sector, the planned India-EU Free Trade Agreement and the cooperation between Germany and India in the fields of digitisation and start-ups.

In Mumbai, the last city to be visited, State Secretary Hirte will be meeting with the Minister of Industry of the Indian State of Maharashtra. There have been close relations between Maharashtra and Germany for many years. Christian Hirte will be visiting the Indo-German Training Centre and the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce in Mumbai, the largest German bilateral chamber of commerce worldwide. Here, he will be discussing the prospects of bilateral economic cooperation with some of the numerous representatives of German SMEs and 'hidden champions' that are located in the flourishing economic region of Mumbai-Pune.
