The office of the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Sri Lanka is opening in Colombo today.

Federal Minister Altmaier said: “Asia is an important driving force for the world economy. We want German companies to build up their presence there with their good products ‘Made in Germany’. The opening of the office is an important milestone for our trade and economic relations between Sri Lanka and Germany.”

In the last few years, German companies’ interest in Sri Lanka has grown considerably. Sri Lanka is a fast-growing market in South Asia. As a maritime hub, the country offers a lot of opportunities for enhanced cooperation in the field of logistics, infrastructure and construction. And there are also possibilities for German firms to get involved in vocational training and renewable energy. The establishment of the Delegation’s office, which receives funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, will improve networking in the country and around the region. This will mean that better use can be made of the potential.
