Information on Germany's cluster policy at a glance
Joint Platform of the Economics and Research Ministries now online
Joint press release by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and the Federal Ministry for Education and Research
The "Clusterplattform Deutschland" went online today. The new website of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and the Federal Ministry for Education and Research can be accessed at www.clusterplattform.de, and provides a comprehensive overview of the measures of the Federal and Länder governments to promote clusters. Cutting-edge clusters combine the strengths of leading companies, research establishments and other stakeholders in a field of technology and innovation in a specific region.
Philipp Rösler, Federal Minister of Economics and Technology, stated: "Clusters offer massive competitive advantages, particularly through an improved division of labour and a greater exchange of knowledge and experience. They boost the innovative capacities of the respective players and thus strengthen Germany's manufacturing sector. This is of great importance for our country, particularly in view of the current economic situation."
Dr. Annette Schavan, Federal Minister for Education and Research, added: "Germany's cutting-edge clusters boost the innovative capacities of our regions. By building bridges between science and commerce, they serve as a model for Europe. This is reflected in the way the clusters attract researchers and qualified professionals from all round the world."
In view of this, the system of German clusters was focused on at the "Innovation dialogue between the Federal Government, commerce and science" in April 2011. This meeting led to the establishment of "Clusterplattform Deutschland" in co-operation with the Länder. The website provides a compact and attractive presentation of the regional and national cluster initiatives and the support available from the Federal Government and the Länder. The aim is to develop the site into a dialogue forum for cluster stakeholders and researchers. A newsletter provides information about new developments and events. It is available (in German) at www.clusterplattform.de/newsletter.
The "Clusterplattform Deutschland" is addressed to everyone interested in cluster-related issues - those responsible for programmes in the federal administration, the Länder and the regions, as well as cluster managers and participants, the various stakeholders in commerce, science, related policy fields, business promotion or regional development, and in particular an international audience.
