Rösler meets French Economy and Finance Minister Moscovici
The Federal Minister of Economics and Technology, Dr. Philipp Rösler, today met his French counterpart, Economy and Finance Minister Pierre Moscovici. The bilateral meeting focused in particular on the sovereign debt crisis, measures to boost competitiveness in Europe, and the economic situation in Germany and France. The two ministers agreed that sound public finances are an essential condition for lasting growth.
Minister Rösler commented: "Together, France and Germany can give back to Europe the economic stability that the continent needs. Our goal is a competitive and successful Europe. To this end, it is important for the EU to take rapid measures to consolidate the budgets and to implement structural reforms. Every country has to play its part in building a union of stability and growth. The meeting with my French counterpart was a good opportunity to exchange views, to define common goals, and to work on strategies to resolve the euro crisis."
