"Making the most of technology: spurring progress, stimulating growth, shaping the future": that is the motto of the new Innovation Concept presented in Berlin today by Dr. Philipp Rösler, Federal Minister of Economics and Technology.

The concept expands the Economics Ministry's technology policy to form a comprehensive Innovation Concept. The concept aims to increase the number of innovative companies doing research in Germany and to build on Germany's leading position as an innovation-friendly investment location.

Minister Rösler commented:"Innovation in business and society are key factors for growth and prosperity in Germany. If we are to ensure that our economy can remain innovative in the long term, we need a more comprehensive approach, on the basis that "shaping new technologies shapes the future".

The measures are addressed to society, business and the state itself. They range from whetting people's appetite to engage with technology to more innovation-friendly policies and specific stimuli to encourage companies to innovate. Here, we are particularly focusing on small and medium-sized businesses and our ever-inventive start-ups.

The concept expands the Technology Campaign of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, and it supplements the Federal Government's High-Tech Strategy.
